Prepare First Is Still Progress
Prepare First is not a polite way to say no. It is a way to avoid building on top of a workflow that still needs shape.
Some workflows are recurring and painful, but the owner is unclear. Some have business risk, but the source material is scattered. Some are good candidates for automation later, but nobody can yet describe the normal path, exceptions, and review point.
That is still useful information.
The next step is usually small:
- Write the recurring trigger.
- Name the person who owns the next action.
- Collect two or three real examples.
- List the decisions people repeat.
- Mark what should never happen automatically.
Once those pieces are visible, the workflow can be reviewed again with better signal.
